How can we increase our Children's Resilience?

“Just when the caterpillar thought her life was over, she began to fly”….

I hear lots of parents talk about the fact that, after “surviving” more than a year of parenting during a pandemic, those 11 days of conflict in Israel, were just their breaking point….

I feel it's the right time to talk about RESILIENCE.

Being a resilient adult, leads to living a more successful, satisfying, happy and meaningful life…. Don’t we all wish that for our children?

How can we INCREASE our children’s resilience?
  1. Allow your children to fail and fault, without fixing or “erasing” the consequences of their errors – Every mistake is AN OPPORTUNITY FOR GROWTH!

  2. Believe in them and in their competence – Continuously remind your children of THEIR STRENGTHS.

  3. Help your children foster meaningful relationships and CONNECTIONS in their lives.

  4. Show them you TRUST them - Let them problem-solve ON THEIR OWN.

  5. Talk about FEELINGS and allow the expression of ALL feelings.

  6. Encourage your children to CONTRIBUTE to your family and community.

  7. MODEL ALL OF THE ABOVE IN YOUR OWN LIVES!!

Dear parents,

Remember that every mistake is an opportunity for growth, so love yourselves a little more, and forgive yourselves for not being perfect.

Believe in your parenting skills and how capable you are, you are much stronger than you think so!

Invest time and energy in your relationships, they will give you invaluable strength all over the way.

Trust yourselves and your way of handling things, and remember, there are a thousand ways of doing things right….
